China Stone’s Milan Moment: LIANG LIVING Debuts

Yingliang Group partners with international design masters to elevate stone from building material to collectible art for living.

Milan Debut: LIANG LIVING Defines the Collectible Value of “Crafted by Nature” in Milan

On April 21, the spotlight of Milan Design Week shifted from the design districts to SLD‧Andrea Bonini Studio, where a launch event from China began rewriting the history of the global stone industry.

LIANG LIVING, China’s first collectible home brand in the stone sector, officially made its debut at SLD‧Andrea Bonini Studio in Milan. Under the theme “Crafted by Nature,” it showcased to the global design community a generational leap forward for China’s stone industry.

This launch transcended the boundaries of traditional product displays, redefining the value and status of stone in contemporary design. The birth of LIANG LIVING marks a pivotal transformation for Yingliang Group—from a conventional stone supplier to a global co-creation design platform. This is not only a brand identity leap but also an upgrade in how China’s stone industry positions itself on the international design stage.

The success of this Milan debut owes much to the deep involvement of an international team of designers. The collaboration of three world-renowned designers—Steve Leung, Woody Yao, and Andrea Bonini—represents the driving force behind LIANG LIVING’s shift from resource export to design co-creation.

Co-Creation with International Designers: Building a Premium Design Aesthetic and Collaborative Ecosystem

Steve Leung (Founder of Steve Leung Design Group) serves as LIANG LIVING’s Global Strategy Advisor and Design Director. Andrea Bonini (Partner at SLD‧Andrea Bonini Studio) and Woody Yao (Founder and Director of KTWY, former Associate Director at Zaha Hadid Architects) are collaborating designers. The involvement of these three internationally acclaimed designers is a critical step in LIANG LIVING’s effort to build a design co-creation platform.

This is more than just three deep design collaborations; it marks the beginning of an open, international ecosystem for designers. Yingliang Group provides unique, museum-grade raw materials, while the designers contribute top-tier creative vision. Together, they explore the collectible potential of stone. This collaborative model breaks away from the outdated dynamic of “Chinese brand exports resources, foreign designers provide designs,” creating instead a creative ecosystem of mutual inspiration and shared growth.

In this ecosystem, Eastern aesthetics and international design language are no longer in a primary-secondary relationship but become interwoven creative expressions. Each piece is a result of shared value creation and a testament to the equal-footed dialogue between China’s stone industry and international design.

Steve Leung: Contemporary Deconstruction of Zen Spirit

With signature collections such as Stairs, Balance, Edges, and Veil, Steve Leung infuses Eastern philosophy into stone design. The Stairs collection draws inspiration from building blocks, achieving multiple forms within a single object. The Balance collection embodies the Eastern concept of “round heaven, square earth,” using fossilized limestone to create harmony between circle and square. The Veil collection captures the essence of Ming-style furniture, using stone to mimic the folds of silk and cloth, expressing the contemporary spirit of Eastern aesthetics.

Andrea Bonini: Sensuous Waves and Blooming Flowers

The ROMA COLLECTION draws inspiration from Roman architecture, featuring pieces such as Tulip Vases, Wave Vases, and Pantheon Vases. Andrea Bonini interprets the eternal and the ephemeral in stone through the lens of Italian design, transforming images like blooming flowers into a philosophical expression of contemporary luxury.

Woody Yao: The Tension of Geometry and Gravity

The ASCENT collection takes stone’s natural grain as a guide, following organic lines to determine proportion and silhouette, embodying a narrative of “separation and reassembly from a single massive raw block.” Woody Yao emphasizes transformable forms, rhythm, balance, and dialogue, exploring the infinite possibilities of stone.

Looking ahead, LIANG LIVING will continue to invite renowned designers from China and around the world to join its creative efforts, constantly pushing the boundaries of collectible stone expression and building a sustainable design co-creation ecosystem. This is not just a brand development strategy but also a systematic elevation of design capability for China’s entire stone industry.

This designer co-creation ecosystem provides a solid design foundation for LIANG LIVING’s collectible positioning. However, top-tier creativity alone is not enough. To make stone truly collectible artistic living, deep industrial expertise is also essential.

The Collectible Value System: Three Core Strengths Forged by Yingliang Group’s 27 Years

LIANG LIVING’s core positioning is “collectible artistic living,” a position built on three core strengths forged over Yingliang Group’s 27-year history.

Rarity of Museum-Grade Raw Materials

Supported by the academic expertise of the Yingliang Stone Natural History Museum—the only one of its kind in China—every piece of stone undergoes rigorous selection by geological experts. These are not ordinary building materials but time capsules preserving hundreds of millions of years of geological memory. The naturally preserved fossil traces and geological textures on the stone form the fundamental basis of its museum-level collectible value. Every stone selected by LIANG LIVING possesses fossil-like rarity, making it inherently worthy of collection.

Manufacturing and Engineering Excellence

LIANG LIVING leverages Yingliang Group’s 27 years of engineering and manufacturing expertise to provide solid technical assurance for collectible home pieces. Yingliang Group’s deep experience in the stone industry is reflected in its understanding and mastery of the entire process chain, from architectural materials to artistic creation.

From participating in international projects over 20 years ago to independently undertaking landmark projects such as the Tashkent Grand Mosque and the Masjid Al-Haram in Mecca, Yingliang Group’s work spans more than 40 countries worldwide—a testament to its outstanding capabilities in large-scale stone engineering. The experience gained from these world-class projects provides the quality assurance and technical backing for LIANG LIVING’s collectible home pieces, ensuring that every piece meets collectible-grade craftsmanship standards.

Forward-Looking Strategic Transformation

The transformation from a traditional stone supplier to a collectible home brand reflects Yingliang Group’s deep understanding of industry trends and its forward-looking strategic positioning. The birth of LIANG LIVING is not a simple business extension but a redefinition of stone’s value system.

By transforming 27 years of accumulated resources into cultural value and strategically upgrading from resource-driven to “culture + design” integrated empowerment, Yingliang Group is charting a new path for China’s stone industry. This path concerns not only the brand’s commercial value but also the voice and influence of China’s stone industry on the international design stage.

A Complete Value Chain from Quarry to Collection

LIANG LIVING’s collectible value is built on end-to-end control from source to finished piece. Yingliang Group has established strategic partnerships with the world’s premier mining regions, ensuring that every stone can be traced back to its optimal origin. This quality control from the quarry, combined with the creative input of international designers and Yingliang Group’s manufacturing capabilities, forms LIANG LIVING’s unique collectible value system.

These three core strengths, together with complete value chain control from quarry to collection, give LIANG LIVING a unique position in China’s stone industry. And the significance of all this extends far beyond a single brand’s development.

Industry Significance: China’s Voice in International Stone and the New Collectible Home Category

LIANG LIVING’s Milan debut is not only a new starting point for a brand but also a new milestone for China’s stone industry.

From Resource-Driven to Design-Driven

China’s stone industry is undergoing a transformation from “resource-driven” to integrated “culture + technology + design” empowerment. Against this backdrop, LIANG LIVING establishes a new category of “design-driven stone luxury,” elevating the industry from “product display” to “industrial revolution.”

This shift from resource-driven to design-driven is not just a change in production model but a fundamental reorientation of the company’s role.

From Product Manufacturing to Platform Building

Yingliang Group’s 27 years of resource accumulation are not aimed at doing larger stone business but at creating more valuable brand expression. LIANG LIVING aims to build an open platform that brings together world-class designers and global resource partners to continuously explore the collectible possibilities of stone. This platform will not only give China’s stone industry a voice on the international design stage but will also enable Eastern aesthetics to be understood and collected worldwide through globalized expressions.

The transition from product manufacturing to platform building marks a redefinition of Chinese stone companies’ position in the global value chain.

From Stone Supplier to Global Design Platform

This journey has taken 27 years, but its true significance is just beginning. LIANG LIVING’s brand mission is to “bring collectible stone living into contemporary living spaces.” Every piece of stone deserves to be rediscovered, and every work should become a piece of art that can be passed down through generations.

This is not simple brand messaging but a systematic rethinking of how the stone industry can evolve. How can Eastern aesthetics earn respect in an international context? How can Chinese brands establish their voice on the global design stage? There are no ready-made answers to these questions. Someone must explore, practice, and prove the way.

On April 21, the spotlight of Milan Design Week shifted to SLD‧Andrea Bonini Studio, where a launch event from China rewrote the history of the global stone industry. And this is only the beginning.
